ARISE Detroit! spotlights efforts to build a stronger community
Detroit neighborhoods look a little sharper this week following ARISE Detroit! Neighborhoods Day.
On Saturday 100-plus block clubs and community groups held simultaneous cleanup efforts and other neighborhood activities during the event, now in its fifth year.
Volunteers for Habitat for Humanity-Detroit and Handyman Ministries worked on homes on the east side.

Elsewhere, young Detroiters performed and made music.

There were health screenings, anti-crime programs, art exhibitions and wide range of entertainment.
ARISE Detroit is a coalition of more than 400 community groups, churches, block clubs and businesses promoting volunteerism, community activism and better media images to build a better Detroit.
We’re pleased to support it with our partners at the Skillman Foundation.
