Kresge Arts Support
Call for applications: Small and mid-size arts and cultural organizations in Wayne, Oakland and Macomb counties are invited to apply now for operating support. The deadline for online applications is Monday, June 21, 2010, at 11:59 p.m. Eastern Standard Time.
Kresge Arts Support is a grant opportunity that provides unrestricted operating support to small, mid-size and large organizations in Metropolitan Detroit’s tri-county area in the performing, visual and literary arts, and to institutions engaged in arts service, education and broadcasting. $4.5 milion will be awarded over two years.
The operating support is intended to assist nonprofit organizations implement their core services and programs and increase opportunities for cultural and artistic expression among residents of the region.
Awards are based on merit and size of the organization’s annual operating expense budget.
Small organizations are those with annual operating expenses less than $300,000. Mid-size organizations are those with operating expenses between $300,000 and $2.9 million.
This call for applications is specifically for small and mid-size organizations. The online application deadline is Monday, June 21, 2010, at 11:59 p.m. Eastern Standard Time.
Organizations with annual operating expenses of $3 million or more are considered large organizations. Large organizations in the tri-county area have been invited by e-mail to apply for Arts Support funding. The online application deadline for large organizations is Friday, June 4, 2010, at 11:59 p.m. Eastern Standard Time.

History of Kresge Arts Support
This grant opportunity was first announced in 2007 and, since then, has provided $6.6 million in operating support to 67 small, mid-size and large organizations in Wayne, Oakland and Macomb counties.
Kresge Arts Support together with the Kresge Artists Fellowships and the Kresge Eminent Artist Award constitute Kresge Arts in Detroit, a coordinated effort to showcase and support Metropolitan Detroit’s tri-county arts and cultural community. Kresge Arts in Detroit is one facet of the foundation’s Detroit Program, a comprehensive community-development framework intended to strengthen the long-term economic, social and cultural fabric of the City of Detroit and surrounding area.
