New Section Addresses Frequently Asked Challenge Grant Program Questions

Troy, Michigan, March 24, 2008

A new Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) page has been added to the Challenge Grant section of the Web site. The FAQ was created in response to grantseeker questions of the last three months.

We have been tracking our phone and e-mail inquiries regarding the expansion of our Challenge Grant,” says Rip Rapson, president of the foundation. “The FAQ page has been designed based on the recurring questions of our grantseekers.

The FAQ answers submission and readiness questions, grant size questions, project questions, gift questions and grant particulars, including:

  • Am I ready to submit my letter of intent?
  • How much should we request from the foundation?
  • How do we designate a “primary project” and can we include other projects?
  • What funds count before and after a Kresge grant is awarded?
  • What are the requirements or conditions of a Kresge Challenge Grant?
  • If a grant is approved, what information is required to confirm that the grant conditions have been met?
  • When is a Challenge Grant paid and when is it cancelled?

The FAQ provides answers to these key questions in a convenient central location. A link to the FAQ can be found at the top of the Challenge Grant pages.

The Challenge Grant application was recently changed to begin with an initial letter of intent in order to streamline the process and make it more accessible. Kresge has added the FAQ to further facilitate the application process for both grantseekers and program staff.
