Human Service Agencies: Deadline for Community Relief Loan Fund Applications Is September 15, 2009

The deadline for applications to the Community Relief Fund, a zero-interest loan fund announced June 30, will be September 15, 2009, at midnight Eastern Standard Time, The Kresge Foundation announced today.

Our intent is to provide interest-free short-term loans to exemplary human service organizations that are struggling to meet the increased need for emergency assistance because of the economic recession,” says Virginia L. Romano, program director for the Human Services Team.

The response has been immediate and positive,” she continues. “Our goal is to complete the required due diligence and have the loans committed before the end of the year.

Through the Community Relief Fund, Kresge is making interest-free loans of $250,000 to $500,000 to human service organizations providing food, shelter and other emergency services. The loans are 24- to-36 months in duration.

Homeless and domestic-violence shelters, safety-net providers, affordable housing and supportive services, legal aid services, emergency assistance providers, and multi-service health and human service organizations are eligible to apply. For more information, visit the Community Relief Fund page.
