Challenge Grant Fact Sheet Is Modified To Increase Usability
Troy, Michigan, March 24, 2008
A revised fact sheet is being posted today in the Challenge Grant section of the Web site. The fact sheet, which gathers data on client services, facility project costs and fundraising sources, is submitted along with a gift chart and letter of intent to initiate the application process for challenge grants.
“Since we launched our new Web site in December 2007, we have been tracking the questions we have received,” says Laura J. Trudeau, program director. “The revised fact sheet has been modified to address recurrent issues raised by our grantseekers.”
The fact sheet can be found in the blue Resources box on the Application Process page.
Grantseekers frequently asked for information to help determine the size of the grant request, she says. The revised fact sheet explains that the foundation typically funds eight to 10 percent of the private fundraising goal.
The fact sheet now includes a section requesting client service information from organizations other than those in the health, human services and education fields. It also asks for the value of an organization’s endowment and date of valuation and the name of the organization’s accrediting or licensing agency, if applicable, and the date of the last review. In keeping with Kresge’s values-centered approach to grantmaking, there are two new questions regarding the environmental sustainability of the proposed facilities project.
“Grantseekers often called and asked if they should include information regarding endowment, accreditation and, in some instances, client service information, in their letters of intent,” Trudeau adds. “It was much easier for us – and hopefully for them – to have these additional data requests built into the fact sheet.”
Additional updates have been made to the Application Process page in the Challenge Grant section. Please see the Program Updates on the front page of the site for more information.
