Application Process Is Streamlined To Increase Accessibility for Grantseekers
Troy, Michigan, December 3, 2007
In an effort to make its Challenge Grant more accessible to medium and small nonprofit organizations, the Kresge Foundation now accepts a letter of intent from grantseekers as the first step in the application process.
The move is intended to streamline what has been considered a complex and time-consuming process. To further simplify the process, the foundation is introducing a new system to apply online.
“It is our hope that this simplified approach will make the grant application process more accessible to a larger and more diverse array of nonprofit organizations,” says Richard Dunlap, director of grants management. “To facilitate this change, we will accept both letters of intent and full proposals until March 31, 2008. Beginning April 1, 2008, only letters of intent will be accepted.”
Grantseekers are asked to be mindful of the foundation’s new values criteria while addressing the following in their letters of intent:
- Provide a brief overview of your community and the role your nonprofit organization plays in it and highlight the specific Kresge values you are attempting to address.
- Describe your rationale for growth or change: what is the big picture vision that is driving this effort?
- Make the case for your proposed project.
- Tell us about your fundraising campaign and give an overview of your campaign plan.
- How does the campaign support your long-term strategy and how are you staffed to accomplish it?
