Welcome to The Kresge Foundation’s online application process. We want to make the process as simple and user-friendly as possible and offer these instructions as an aid to grantseekers.

  • There are two buttons below. The button on the left, “Start Your Application” initiates the application process. Once you start your application, you will have 120 days to complete it.
  • The button on the right, “Access Your Saved Application,” allows you to work on, save and return to your application as often as necessary during the 120-day period prior to submission.

Please be aware that once you press the “submit” button, you will not be able to retrieve your application to make additional changes.

A complete application consists of a letter of intent, a gift chart and fact sheet. We recommend that you draft your letter and complete both forms before you initiate your online application. On the challenge grant program’s application process page, we list the information we would like you to provide in your letter of intent. Also on that page, located in the resources box, you will find a downloadable copy of the gift chart and fact sheet as well as instructions for both and other useful information. We recommend you save a completed, electronic copy of the gift chart and fact sheet for future updating, if necessary.

Creating an online account makes it possible for you to submit your application materials electronically and for us to respond to your application by e-mail. Setting up an account is a three-step process:

  • Step 1 – Press the “Start Your Application” button at the bottom of this page, provide your user name where indicated and press “continue”
  • Step 2 – Set up your password by filling in the password field and confirming it in the second password field and press “continue”
  • Step 3 – Provide your tax identification number and press “enter”

With that, you will have established your online account with us. Each time you return to this page following the initial set up, press “Access Your Saved Application,” also located at the bottom of the page. You will be asked to sign in each time you return by providing your user name, password and tax identification number.

You will have 120 days from the time you activate your online application to the time you make your submission. We accept one letter of intent per organization as signified by the tax identification number. Your password, however, is not time sensitive and not tied to a particular tax identification number, enabling you to access current and future applications and from various organizations.

After you complete and submit your electronic application, you will receive two e-mail confirmations that your materials have been received. A program officer will review your letter of intent and supporting documents and respond back to you in four to six weeks.
