Beaufort-Jasper-Hamilton Comprehensive Health Services and its community partners are developing a leadership organization to ensure comprehensive health and fitness services are available to residents of Sheldon Township, one of South Carolina’s poorest rural areas.
The nation’s third-largest broadcasting station for public television is responsible for the PBS NewsHour, which serves more than 6 million viewers and listeners with its daily news reporting and analysis. A three-year grant enables the PBS NewsHour to continue its extensive, in-depth coverage of health care reform implementation while promoting robust dialogue on health care issues.
Since its founding in 1977 by noted futurist Alvin Toffler, the institute has developed reports on the future of public health, education, climate change, the information revolution and many other subject areas. Funding supports a review and assessment of how community-health centers address the social determinants of health and lead to new forecasting models for leveraging these key factors in the future.
More than 100 school-based and school-linked health centers across Michigan receive technical assistance and organizational support from this statewide agency. A two-year grant allows the alliance to scale up its model for a centralized billing and data-collection system and expand access to a national network of school-based health centers.
