The center advances the performing arts and enriches the community by engaging youth, young adults, area educators and Richmond residents in training programs, residencies, after-school activities and civic events. The grant furnishes two theaters as part of a $16 million renovation of the center’s Winter Building and seed a building reserve fund.

Founded by artists in 1978, On the Boards introduces audiences to international innovators in contemporary dance, theater and music while developing and presenting new work by Northwest performing artists. The grant strengthens the performing arts organization’s building reserve and complete repairs to its existing facility.

The Nonprofit Finance Fund (NFF), a national community-development financial institution, is administering this $4 million, six-year initiative to help 14 children's museums and community schools of art secure their long term financial future. NFF is providing an independent engineering audit of each participant’s primary facility and using this information to create a 20-year maintenance and systems-replacement plan and budget.

Grantees are making monthly deposits to their building reserve accounts and Kresge is matching them through 2017.

Designated as a National Historic Landmark, the outdoor living-history museum preserves and interprets a collection of original Shaker furniture, art, textiles and artifacts housed in 18 historic buildings and on-site exhibit space. This funding supports the village’s efforts to realign its business model by diversifying its programming and broadening its revenue sources.

Formed in 1975, the opera company remains committed to delivering outstanding productions of traditional and new repertoire at the Academy of Music and the Kimmel Center’s Perlman Theatre while cultivating new audiences through education, outreach, and enrichment programs in schools and the community. Kresge’s grant provides the financial resources that will enable the company to shift its business model.
